American Military Targeted a 'Large Plant' in the Venezuelan nation, Trump Claimed Without Offering Details.

Ex-President Trump has claimed that US military assets hit a "major facility" in Venezuela last week. However, the former president offered no details on the exact purpose or site of the strike, and there has been no additional clarification from his administration.

Vague Comments Offered During a Talk Show

"US forces just knocked out – I'm not sure if you saw – they have a large facility, where the vessels come from. Two nights ago, we knocked that out. So we hit them with significant force," Trump allegedly told GOP supporter and businessman John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Possible Significance of a Confirmed Attack

Should a American military action is verified, it would constitute the first land strike since the Pentagon began a expansion of American military presence in the Caribbean region to interdict narco-trafficking operations that the former administration claims operate under the authority of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The initial purpose of the military buildup has since morphed into a quarantine aimed at hindering the nation's crude oil shipments.

Online Footage and Administration Claims

Trump has for some time indicated that US forces are ready to expand the operations by striking objectives inside Venezuela, a tactic that would in theory require congressional authorization.

Online video posted online on 24 December seemed to depict an blast reportedly from an industrial area in a Venezuelan state. But, the video or the facility has not been independently verified.

An official from Trump's team allegedly informed a news network that the president was referring to a narco-trafficking site in his remarks.

Response and Ongoing Military Posture

The Caracas administration has remained silent on the event Trump referenced. Furthermore, there have been no corroborating news from Venezuela concerning it.

The buildup of American forces in the area – a posture some have referred to as a naval quarantine – represents the largest maritime enforcement action of Trump's presidency.

Officials have avoided from describing the operation as a full blockade, but have acknowledged that around 15,000 service members are positioned across the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf, including a carrier strike group, advanced fighter jets, and law enforcement vessels to implement current sanctions.
