Historical Context
Nottingham Forest v Malmö and memories of 1979. The both teams have a historical link, also facing each other in Forest's previous European adventure in the UEFA Cup of 1995-96, but it is the premier competition final 46 years ago that entwines these two together, with the groundbreaking transfer Trevor Francis scoring the winner of a largely forgettable match to secure historic victory for the the English club.

One should note to consider Malmö, who became the pioneering and only Swedish club to reach the final under British coach Houghton.
The current fixture is a very different to that peak, closer perhaps to the Uefa Cup first-round tie between Forest and Malmö in that era. Forest are riding high after beating Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield on Saturday, while Malmö haven't kicked a competitive ball since early November following the end of the Swedish league season. The general expectation is on the English side tonight.
